Roy Thomas was born on November 22nd, 1940 in Jackson, Missouri and has since become a legend in the comic book world. Roy began his career in 1965 when he moved to New York City to become an assistant editor at DC for the growingly popular Superman comics. Thomas would later accept a job for Marvel and was Stan Lee’s first successor as the chief editor for Marvel Comics. He is credited for the creation of the “sword and sorcery” trend in the comic book scene. Roy was also responsible for introducing Conan the barbarian to American comics. Over the course of his life he has worked on several big names in Marvel such as Captain America, X-Men, Spiderman and The Avengers.
